Rewarding benefits of becoming a rural GP with MAACG Medical

There are many benefits to be derived from working with a well-established group in the rural space. Clearly financial rewards are extremely important, but we believe that our Group relationships are paramount. Coming to work with MAACG Medical provides an entry into a business that has been established for 23 years and has 19 medical clinics. Some 120 doctors work with us. There is excellent support from committed staff who often remain with the company for many years.

The Doctors have a regular and stable patient base numbering thousands of patients many of whom have been looked after for around 23 years. This highlights a major point of difference between working in the city where the patient base tends to be quite transient.

MAACG Medical have a support network of Mentoring Doctors, Senior Doctors, Clinic Nurses and a team of Chronic Disease Management Nurses to assist in your transition into our clinics.

Lifestyle

Working in a rural clinic is never dull and each day brings a different challenge. Patient demands can differ from the rural areas which can present additional unique challenges from that of the Metro regions, we do not operate just as referral machines. It is important to understand the reason for presentations, take a history, organise appropriate investigations and arrive at an appropriate diagnosis. Overall this provides for a very satisfying clinical experience.

Generally, in the rural situationĀ great relationships with patients and their families can be established. Many Registrars have enjoyed being embraced by the local community they join.

Rural life is significantly less stressful than the city particularly with regard to traffic and the hustle and bustle of life in a city. Housing is far cheaper to either rent or buy than the monstrous current city housing prices.

Schools and religious facilities are also excellent. It is easy, however, to access the city due to newly developed transport links and much improved infrastructure. It is easier to study for exams in the rural space due to the generally quieter environment which allows for greater concentration.

Financial

Looking at the business aspects of working in the rural environment with MAACG there are many advantages. Direct earnings will easily equal comparable city activity and once established there will be the assurance of a regular patient load.

No capital input is required from the incoming doctor and there is no need for the doctor to concern themselves with any of the minutiae of practice management.

Although it initially often appears exciting and challenging to own and run a practice the realisation soon dawns of the complexity and tedium required to run the business successfully. It seems far better to leave this to an organisation which has multiple years of experience.

The Group has provided excellent support to doctors over the years. The Company has experience and can deal with challenging management issues particularly in the government space. Each of the MAACG clinics are Accredited and under the 5th standard emphasis is on Quality and Improvement which includes Doctors maintaining up to date patient medical records.

In conclusion

Overall working in the rural environment creates, I believe, a far more challenging and rewarding experience than in comparison with the city.
